CNN on ObamaCare

Postby ucanit » Sun Jul 18, 2010 6:25 pm

I just watched Fredericka Whitfield interview a government official on new Obama healthcare rules that take effect Sept 23rd. He said some patients won't have any co-pay for certain select screenings (for example, women over 40 will not have to pay any co-pay for breast exams). When pressed to determine how the medical providers would be reimbursed, the government official said that insurance companies will pay both the insurance coverage and the co-pay. For this expense, the government official said insurance premiums would likely increase about 1.5% for everybody. He also said that in order to hold down expenses insurers would most likely have a select group of doctors who could do the procedure but if patients did not want to see those doctors or didn't want to wait until they could be worked into those limited schedules, the patients would have to pay the entire expense for their screenings.

For those who thought this was going to be a great thing, I'm thinking we will continue to find out this mandated healthcare coverage is eventually going to cost us all more and give us less, just like this first revelation we are beginning to get details about.

"...the government official said insurance premiums would likely increase about 1.5% for everybody."

-as opposed to:
Anthem Blue Cross..."plans to raise premiums for its California customers by as much as 39 percent"..."extraordinary increases" that are "up to 15 times faster than inflation."

"The company earned $2.7 billion in just the last quarter of 2009. Quarterly sales went from $15.1 billion to $19 billion -- a 26% rise."

"I'm thinking we will continue to find out this mandated healthcare coverage is eventually going to cost us all more and give us less."

-isn't it already doing that ? Emergency Rooms are swamped, not only by illegals and welfare recipients, but also by those that are just unable to pay the premiums...the elderly, fixed incomes, no incomes due to job losses or simply being cut back to Part Time so the employers don't have to pay the benefit. I spent 4 hours at the ER last night...3 1/2 of which were just waiting...

The current system we have is broken and out of control. Statistics show we get less "bang for our buck" than any other industrialized Nation. Obama won the election, based on his positions on healthcare. 80% of Americans want to see the system restructured. Congress has developed a plan... :?:

"...just like this first revelation we are beginning to get details about."

-and that's the point...it's not even instituted yet and already there are those who trash it. Will it work ? I sure don't know...and I also don't know if it will be better or cheaper. But what I do know...is that I believe that Healthcare is an essential piece of our overall National Security Puzzle. I would rather defend our shores with healthy, strong Americans...than to go to war with the sick, weak and ailing...all because of someone's profit margin...

Do I have more than half a brain ? I don't know...the results haven't come back yet !!

You'd better get those results before ObamaCare kicks in. Remember, all you'll get then is a sympathy card and an appointment with a counselor to help you deal with the fact that you're gonna die!!!
