I'M BAAAACK!

Postby DDEATH » Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:08 pm

Back from my vacation and things are still the same........... aren't the righties tired of picking on Obama; and the lefties blaming everything on Bush?

As we were driving and listening to news on the radio, my wife (who is not too much into politics) asked me why 60 Democrats could all think the health care bill was worthy of a yes vote and all forty Republicans would vote no? Do none of them think for themselves? I had to explain (or try to) why they all vote the party line, no matter what they think.

Remembering that I told her that the country was made up of 40% Dedumkin sheep, 40% Redumkin sheep and 20% of Independents, she asked me why Congress doesn’t have 40% each from the two parties and 20% Independents.

A good question with no good answer. But it made me wonder: why not? After all, we usually decide the Presidency………

DDEATH, Welcome Back! Did you explain to your loving wife, that the reason why 60 dumocrats voted for "Obama care" was because several arms were twisted, and bought off, like Bill Nelson of Nebraska, and Mary L, from Louisiana? Did you explain that the unions were bought off, and not required to pay the "Cadillac tax" on their generous health care coverage, while everyone else who doesn't belong to a union must pay? Did you explain its not possible to cover everyone, and bring down costs, especially when government is in charge of it? Did you explain that voters in Mass. ESPECIALLY INDEPENDENTS, voted for Scott Brown, because his #1 issue was that he would be the 41st vote against "Obama care"? Did you explain to your wife, that the majority of Americans are against "Obama care" yet Nancy, Harry, and Barry are still trying to force "Obama care" down our throats?

If you didn't explain all of this to your loving wife, please just print the above paragraph and give it to her.

I explained most of that, but she wasn't buying it........... and she still wanted to know why not one of the dummies on the other side would vote for it? Don't tell me they ALL think the same way! The two-party system is killing us..........

DDEATH, The other side didn't vote for it, because:

1) The majority of Americans don't want it

2) They realize we need a free market approach, and not a government run approach

3) The opposition party was not invited to give their input, and even if it was, it would not be taken seriously

4) Nancy, Harry and Barry (and a bunch of lawyers)closed the door ,wrote the 2000 page bill, and didn't let anyone know about DETAILS of the bill.

DDeath, the rumor going around here was that you took West Palm by storm and it caused an earquake in Haiti. I just spent 4 day hibernating in an ice storm. The only time I left the house was to walk up to 7-11 for milk. I can see you now with that nice tan singing Jimmy Buffet songs.

Glad you are home all safe and sound, DD! Hope ya had a good enough time for all of us!

I can't help but ask why your pretty Mrs. thought that only the 40 were dummies. Wasn't there a chance that at least one of the 60 was a dummy as well? Voting for something just because that's the party line is just about a stupid as voting against it for the same reason.

Ucanit,

She did think they were ALL stupid.......... if you reread my post.

Arnie Schwarzenegger was on one of the Sunday talk shows a few weeks back and asked the same question. He said the Congress was there to work for the people. Instead of taking bribes, following the party line, or worrying about reelection, they should be working to solve problems and could pass a healthcare reform bill that would be acceptable to most people if they put their minds to it. He was especially upset that California used to get back about 92 cents per dollar on collected fed taxes and now gets about 79 cents; and complained about sending their money to Nebraska.

He is a very pragmatic, no-nonsense type of guy. Too bad he can't run for Prez.......... he'd get my vote.

A great time.......... 13 days in Florida with temps in the mid seventies to lower eighties.

Thanks to Windowman for suggesting a stop in St. Augustine. A lot of history there. I went to the Fountain of Youth, but it only made me feel older.

I had to duck around that ice/snowstorm but managed to see the Biltmore Mansion in Ashville, NC, and drove through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

Had some good BBQ in NC.

All in all, a satisfying trip. :D
