Daisy, I have found that when someone says those kind of things it is because they are really talking about how they view something. Chris Matthews is really speaking about his personal racism.

You know I generally respect Matthew's views but this is a racist's comment with no questions. You just wonder about the people making political comments about what we see and making comments about that and telling "us" what to think about them. One thing that I will say is that there is nobody excluded from making dumbass remarks like this who's work is like what Chris Matthews does.. I know the Conservative talk show hosts have made stupid comments like this as well.. They all are seperated from our world, they just pretend to be like us regular people.. In this age of keeping track of everything everyone says all the time for political reasons, you will keep seeing blunder's like this in my opinion.
The more we argue about what Politicians are correct, the more we find out they all serve the money and not the people who voted them in power..

 I think right at the end of that clip, when Chris said, "It's so hard to talk about...I probably shouldn't talk about it;" he realized that he'd let his alligator mouth overload his tadpole ass!!

What his comments say to me that it is him that cannot imagine there is a black man in the White House. As soon as somebody says they are color blind I think Liar, Liar. Man is hard wired to identify people by their race, but we also have the abilty to evaluate the content of a mans character. In 1963 Matin Luther King made the greatest speech that I have ever heard. Race relations have come a long way since 63, but they have a very long way to go. I believe blacks took a huge unacceptable step bacward with the Gangsta movement. I am not about to define my morals down so as to avoid the racist tag. 10.4% of black men are in prison, and this is a problem within the black community. Whitey has proved that he cannot solve the problem and really only made it worse with the welfare programs that destroyed the black family structure. The key is the restablisment of the black family structure with a strong father figure. It took almost 50 years for the do-gooders to destroy the black family, will it take 50 years to undo their mess?

Dazed, I fear it will take at least 50 years, it always seems to take a lot longer to change toward the positive than to the negative.
But one thing is for sure........it will never be fixed if attempted by "whitey" .
First, coming from whitey, it will never be accepted, much less adopted, so whitey can't fix it, nor should he try (as a whitey fix)
It will seem a racist conspiracy to the ones you try to help regardless of intentions, and btw, free money is not the fix either!
There must be the desire to fix anything in society, and that desire must come from within the community itself.
Till people hit that "rock bottom" (like an alcoholic) and have the personal desire (disgusted by where they are and where they are heading) )and make the move to pull themselves up by their boot staps, no problem will be fixed, whether moral decay or political decay....... so whitey needs to concentrate a different direction.........
Maybe hold politicians feet to the fire, and get this country back to what it was built for in the first place.
However, society cannot, and should not try to stand still and wait for others to get their act together so they won't have to catch up later...keep the goals way out front (even for ourselves)........we will still hear how whitey continued to advance, while others were left behind, but that is human nature (to complain and whine)..........but let me ask you this. When you were a kid, did your grandfather quit walking along a path and wait for you to catch up because your legs were short? NO! He told you to RUN, and you must have, because you did catch up! DIDN'T YOU! He was trying to teach you a lesson.....the question is did we learn?
Oh yeah, the same applies toward that gangsta thing you refer to on occasion..........don't tolerate it, don't look over it....
acknowledge it and squash it like a bug.....that is the only fix.........
Make the price so high that they can't afford to pay for it! Pain is a great motivator!!

Geezer, I totally agree. Look at what we have done to the education system. Standards are reduced so nobody fails, and this just creates a lazy generation. I believe we are born with equal capabilities, but this is where environment destroys motivation. Every time the liberals try to fix anything all they do is mess it up. The Great Society destroyed the thriving black family life. The death of Martin Luther King by that idiot was a more important event than anyone could have imagined, for it took a true leader from us, and the vacuum has never been filled.

Imagine I'm attending college, and I'm listening to a African American professor give a great lecture. afterwards I comment to the class, man that was a great lecture! For an hour I completely forgot he was a black man. What would be the reaction of my classmates? Yet when it comes to democrats like Chris Mathews, or Harry Reid, they are given a complete pass! If Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, or any conservative politician said what Chris Mathews, or Harry Reid said, it would of made front page news for at least a week, and Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton, would of been crying "RACIST" for weeks on end!

Windowman, Don't give me that BULLSHIT! Can you name me ONE conservative, who made a comment anything close to what Chris Mathews said, and wasn't called a RACIST? You cant, because one doesn't exist! This is why many Americans like myself are turning to alternative media outlets, in record numbers! We are getting sick and tired of the CLEAR DOUBLE STANDARD, in the liberal media where Mathews spews his racist rants, and not a word is said! CLEAR DOUBLE STANDARD!

I hope WestTx can bust my ass on this and make me believe that I'm wrong...because I truly wish I was...

Gangsta, No-Snitching, Gang Activities, High Percentage in Prison, etc., etc., etc. This all is a result of a failure in the black community to instill respect for authority in its youth. Simply, we have observed years of having most black community leaders (including political, social and religious) teaching their community's youth to decry, defame, and defile any form of authority, including parental, spiritual, social, and legal. This compounds itself when introduced to those who learned radical racial intolerance with the white and other communities. To change what has been taught to an entire societal segment will take longer than the lifetime of all those who have been so indoctrinated. Thus, we (as a society) will not advance our backward beliefs and behaviors until long after all those who are living are dead and gone AND the younger generations who are unfortunate enough to learn these problematic values are all dead and gone too! Now, let us not forget that a few of us will have some significant emotional event that moves us past our dysfunctional values and we virtually "mature over-night." But for the vast majority of our society, racial and color dysfunction will be around for many, many (probably thousands of) years. This is not a black vs. white issue! While that might be part of the whole thing...even in the black community, lighter skin gets a disproportionate level of respect. I have...and I believe WestTx has had...that significant emotional event that makes us respect or disrespect others purely based on interaction with that individual. Alas, so few others have come to grips with this reality of human value!

Daisy you have got to be kidding me.. Name one Conservative who has made a racists remark? Talk about blinded by the "right".. Here are some "Conservative" talk show hosts when they have opened their mouth being racist..

Rush Limbaugh has many and he is as "Conservative" as they come.. http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=3928

How about Don Imus.. http://mediamatters.org/research/200704040011

Glenn Beck..http://www.associatedcontent.com/articl ... html?cat=9

Just to name a few..So do not tell me your BS either.. It happens to the right, left and everything in between.. And it is a damn shame it does. We are all Americans no matter what skin color or ethnic background we have. Ucanit has some intelligent words about the subject although I think it is a bit deep..I think no matter what your beliefs are during your childhood or what you think your parents believed your opinions can change just by knowing a person that is different than you on the outside but you find that they are the same as you in the inside to put it in a simple way.

Windowman.......I totally agree with the train of thought that, one can re-learn what was instilled in them when they were youths.......it really only takes conversations with those we do not understand, to start to understand from where they came.........but........it takes conversations from both parties, without judgement from either..just listening and putting yourself in the others place. However, whatever one has experienced cannot be used to justify bad behaviour within society. As simple as this may sound, it is one of the hardest things one could ever do. But both parties have to realize that we each have our own cross to bear also, so I can't experience what you have and neither can anyone do the same for me. ( I know you already know this, as does everyone else in this board) But, that being said, we can only commit to the future, and nothing can make up for the past.YOU ARE OWED NOTHING!! Just try to explain that to someone who lives by animal-like instincts instead of being taught by good parents like you were, you just as well be arguing with a rock!
I don't really see ucanit's points as being deep, unless you consider CORE teachings as being deep. I think that is his point, not deep, just all the way to the core. Without those teachings, values, and ethics, nothing will really change. Then society must hold those responsible for their own actions, whether they were taught any better or not. If we allow animalistic behaviour, then we must be willing to build kennels to put them in. I don't care about what color someone is, acceptable behaviour is still required, or you go to jail.......there is no early out ......there is no pardon......you will have "good behaviour" or you will stay!! You will work for the state that pays for your room and board....you try to escape while fulfilling that obligation to the state, you will be shot and you will not be able to sue me or the state for consequences for your actions!!! Just as it should be in normal life, there is a price for stupidity. If you feel the price is too high, behave! If one feels his price is always too high, explain how that can change (hand him a mirror)
It might sound cruel to some, but it still takes guts to kill a rat. It must be done or you will find droppings in your Christmas decorations next year. Even the rat is just doing what it does (as a rat). It is his nature, it's just instinct....Man has a choice, so he must choose.........just teach him young, there are consequences for his choice........and only he will pay, and it will be at retail...no discounts, and no sales!!!!
I'm just so stinking sick of hearing others make excuses for others bad behaviour, trying to justify what makes idiots tick!
Overlooking bad behaviour only justifies, and condones more bad behaviour!! Either teach morals and ethics to your kids or watch them go to jail, and live with the truth that you did a lousy job as a parent........if you have done all you could do when raising them then it was a bad choice on their part and you should not feel guilty, it is not society's fault, but it is now society's problem.
Have a society that doesn't need jails and prisons......I wonder how much tax money that would save.. maybe enough for everyone to pay for his own health insurance?
