Express Mail/Overnight

Postby unforgiven » Sat Apr 03, 2010 11:22 pm

Ordered a new phone Thursday night. They said it would be shipped using overnight shipping which seeing they wouldn't ship it out until Friday, meant delivery sometime on Monday since the other guys don't delivery normally on a Saturday unless premium surcharges are paid. Friday I get an email confirming shipment of my phone. Wow, they're using the post office and when I checked the tracking number, the only information that came up was that it was scheduled for Monday delivery. Can you say Priority Mail? Fine with me, no big deal, it's not like I paid extra for shipping. Today out of curiosity I checked the tracking number to see what it would say. Phone was received at the Kentucky P&DC somewhere around 6pm on Friday and had arrived in my town at the P&DC where I work at 8:21 Saturday morning. What surprised me was that the wireless carrier has shipped the phone using Express Mail. I live a 20 minute drive from the P&DC, where I work, so my question is why wasn't the phone delivered today on Saturday? It was sent Express Mail, aren't we supposed to treat that special and with haste? I can list many times that I deviated on my route to deliver Express Mail first thing in the AM to avoid any chance of missing our postmaster's self-imposed deadline of 12 noon(a deadline that was actually a good thing, providing some common sense in application was demonstrated by station managers). If this is an example of our effort to offer good service, then we have fallen flat on our faces again.
