I think in many ways that I probably had it right much easier than most of you folk' on this forum. Generations before me didn't have it easy, butt they worked hard and looked ahead without complain'em too much. My parents died young, butt my uncle and his family raised me to the bone, and expected nuthen less than total effort and honesty. I won't rich money-wise, butt I didn't have financial hardships like many others. I also don't feel like I benefitted from afirmative action to the extent that many folk' are upset bout' -- after LBJ funked things up. The Civil Rights Amendment has had many negative consequences that are too numerous to discuss here. I've already noted that Dazed knows what I'm talk'en bout. I came up jest before that liberal period, butt I must admit that I was afforded the opportunity to go to school and excel. Everybody needs to take advantage of a break in life, if and when they receive it. I sure as Hell ain't special, and many folk' for whatever reason are never afforded an extra opportunity in life. It pays to be humble, butt sure of yourself.
Geezer really nailed the topic, but WindowLady and WindowMan, and you had valid points too. Believe me when I tell you that I knowed what po and white is, butt at least you ain't trash. Geezer might've lived in a mobile home park, butt at least it won't the mobile home park da-hood! I knowed Geezer can tell you what and how many po Scotch-Irish folk' came from the South's North Carolina. How in the Hell did you get lost in Chicago Land?
And... Geezer really did knock the gotdamn ball outta the park when he wuz talk'en bout' family structure and the work'en woman hit'en the labor market. In part I blame LBJ for today's social problems, rather than George, the Shrub Bush -- to borrow from Brother Ucanit's name'en convention for Bush. Folk' are live'en in massive personal debt and reckless lifestyles, and I tend to think that a majority of these folk' support Obama. I knowed that sounds like a generalization, butt I believe it's especially true for white folk. Blacks jest tend to want to vote for Brother Baracus Obamas.
I'll even take Geezer's model one mo step up by say'en that today's work'en women are grow'en testicles bigger than their husbands or male counterparts. No, I ain't no male chauvinist or nuthen, butt today's agressive business woman reminds me of a bitch on roids', while their male counterparts remind me of pussy-whipped whimps. What is wrong? No, I ain't mak'en a gotdamn generalization for all women or men folk' -- jest a trend that I think is apparent.
You sure implied that the job prospects were better in earlier years (say the 50s and 60s), and I agree with you. We're in a world of shitz today for many reasons. Ain't it nice to be old and grumpy? You're an old dawg, and I'm a bigot of sorts...
