Meanwhile the Congress that you think will have more Republicans with your tea party idiots in charge will make the Postal Service default with no action "by design".. Your buddies are going to give you a gift! Lets see what they think your wages and benefits are worth when this happens! http://blogs.federaltimes.com/federal-t ... ll-happen/

The unions have insisted on propping up archaic delivery methods in an effort to maintain their membership. I still get the NALC magazine and I laugh at their viewpoints because their only interest is in maintaining the membership and they ignore reality. The PO is vital for America, but it has to change. If the PO does not change with the times it is doomed.

Here we go, the Unions are the enemy ,, Sure change in what way? Reduce service and lower wages and benefits for it's workers while we put 5.5 billion dollars into a pre funding account that was basically set up to put us out of business? Sure if we are vital as you say then lets start with that bogus bill set in place first, then we can talk about other issues as well. You know if anyone wants to know why our economy is sinking it is because the biggest group of people who spend into this economy for goods and services is the middle class and they are being squeezed for their wages and benefits so they spend less. Padding the wealthy in this country does nothing for this economy at all in my opinion. http://thehill.com/special-reports/fina ... lass-first

WindowMan, you never listen. Sorting of the mail has been modernized, but the delivery has remained basically constant, and there is no need for anything more than 3-day delivery. Eliminate door delivery, and go to cluster boxes. As a hybrid, I am against tax cuts for the wealthy, but I am also against subsidizing those who refuse to work. Let the natural course of evolution take place in those who refuse to help themselves.

Dazed, sorry to bust your bubble but your full of it to think people would go for three day a week delivery. How do we remain competitive with service like that to our customers? I can maybe think eliminating Saturday delivery but cut it in half? When was the last time you talked to the customers that we serve? I do every day for the last almost thirty years and I can tell you it would not work in my opinion. What the hell does your statement your against subsidizing those who refuse to work when the subject is the Postal Service? Do you think that they would be bailing out the Postal Service when it is their own damn money that they want from this bogus bill from Congress? How about the Postal Service using it for their own needs instead of an account that is borrowed against for other uses? How American is it to end collective bargaining rights of workers?

Sure people have to work and then again they should be getting fair and decent wages and benefits in return so that this economy can grow again. The more money to the majority, the more demand for goods and services and then the jobs will come back. Tax breaks for the top 2 percent does nothing to improve this economy.

Window, According to estimates there are 250,000 postal employee's eligible for retirement in a few years. I think guys like you and I could be forced to take early retirement, and part time lower paid workers will take our place! In reality, that's probably the only way the USPS survives. First class volume continues to shrink, and the growing parcel business is not enough to take its place. I think Saturday delivery should be eliminated, but parcels should still go out on Saturday! Cluster boxes should also take the place of personnel mail delivery wherever possible! I hope to get at least another five years out of this place, but if i'm forced out, I will take early retirement (I'm only 46, with 25 years in) and get another job, because the annuity won't be nearly enough to retire on.

WindowMan, you are Naive to believe the people would do anything but burp at the switch to 3 day delivery and that is the ONLY way to save your job. This thread is not about the PO it is about the coming election, and I won't apologize for saying the Republicans cater to the rich and the Democrats cater to the worthless.
